How to Update Latest Tax Slabs (%) in SwilERP According to GST 2.0 Rationalization

Update Your Tax Codes in SwilERP as Per Latest GST Updates


Recent changes in GST slabs have led to updates in many product tax categories. These changes follow the 56th GST Council meeting on September 3, 2025, where major reforms were approved to simplify the GST structure. As part of the GST 2.0 rationalization, the tax slabs are now mainly simplified to 5% and 18%, making it easier for businesses and consumers to understand and comply.

Major GST Revisions (Effective September 22, 2025)

  1. 12% → 5%: All drugs, medicines, and nutraceuticals (Vitamins & minerals)
  2. 18% → 5%: Medical devices, diagnostic equipment, surgical instruments, health supplements
  3. 12% → 0%: 33 lifesaving drugs for cancer, rare diseases, chronic conditions
  4. 5% → 0%: 3 additional cancer treatment drugs
  5. 12% → 5%: Medical supplies (gauze, bandages, glucometers)
  6. 12% → 5%: Pharma job work services

This guide explains step by step how to create and update your product tax codes/slabs by applying appropriate filters, selecting the correct categories, groups, HSN codes, and assigning new tax codes efficiently. This process helps you stay compliant with the new GST slabs while ensuring accurate billing and reporting.

Please take a proper backup of your data before running this process.

Step 1: Check Updates & Download Tax Code Update Option

  1. Click on the Alert button in SwilERP.
  2. An Alert Message window will appear.
  3. Click on the Check Your Updates option.
  4. Here, tick mark on the "Download Query – GST 2.0 Rationalization Changes".
  5. Click OK to start the download.
  6. Once the process is complete, a success message will appear:
    1. "Query has been imported successfully"
  7. Click OK to confirm and proceed.

Info: After completing this process, please re-login to your SwilERP software to apply the changes.

Note: After downloading the update, the default rights to create or change tax codes will be automatically assigned to the Store Head.

GST 2.0 Rationalization Changes

  1. Go to the Options section.
  2. Open GST 2.0 Rationalization Changes Form.
  3. With this form, you can do following processes:
    1. Create New Tax Code
    2. Change Tax Code in Product and Lot
    3. Change HSN Code in Product
Additionally, you can view the count of products and lots based on tax codes. This helps you easily check how many products and lots are assigned to each tax code.

Step 2: How to Create New Tax Code

  1. Go to the GST 2.0 Rationalization Changes Form.
  2. Click on the "Create New Tax Code" - "C" button.

In this form, you will see the New Tax Codes for both Sales and Purchase, as shown below:

For Sale:
  1. Use Tax Code - "SG1_O2” – 12% to 5%
  2. Use Tax Code - "SG1_O3” – 18% to 5%
  3. Use Tax Code - "SG0_O2” – 12% to 0%
  4. Use Tax Code - “SG0_O1” – 5% to 0%
  5. Use Tax Code - “SG0_O3” – 18% to 0%
  6. Use Tax Code - “SG3_O4” – 28% to 18%
For Purchase:
  1. Use Tax Code - “PG1_O2” – 12% to 5%
  2. Use Tax Code - “PG1_O3” – 18% to 5%
  3. Use Tax Code - “PG0_O2” – 12% to 0%
  4. Use Tax Code - “PG0_O1” – 5% to 0%
  5. Use Tax Code - “PG0_O3” – 18% to 0%
  6. Use Tax Code - “PG3_O4” – 28% to 18%
Note: These new tax categories are created to help you easily identify in the future whether products fall under the new or old GST tax slabs.
  1. Select the New Sales and Purchase Tax Code you want to create.
  2. After selecting, click on the Save button.

Step 3: How to Change Tax Code in Product and Lot

  1. Go to the GST 2.0 Rationalization Changes Form.
  2. Click on the "Change Tax Code in Product and Lot" - "T" button.

  1. In this form, use the appropriate filter options to generate the product list for updating the tax code.
  2. Select Category, Group Name, HSN Code, and Tax Code as needed to filter the data. You can use any combination of these filters to generate the desired product list.
  3. Based on your selected filters, the product list will appear in the table below.
  4. Select the products you want to update.
  5. From the dropdown, choose the New Tax Code that you created earlier.
  6. If you want to apply the new tax code to product lots as well, tick the Change in Lot option.
  7. Click Save to apply the changes.
1. When you change products with 12% GST to 5% GST, select them according to the following criteria.
  1. Old Tax Type - SG2 & New Tax Type - SG1_O2
2. When you change products with 18% GST to 5% GST, select them according to the following criteria.
  1. Old Tax Type - SG3 & New Tax Type - SG1_O3
3. When you change products with 12% GST to 0% GST, select them according to the following criteria.
  1. Old Tax Type - SG2 & New Tax Type - SG0_O2 
4. When you change products with 5% GST to 0% GST, select them according to the following criteria.
  1. Old Tax Type - SG1 & New Tax Type - SG0_O1 
5. When you change products with 18% GST to 0% GST, select them according to the following criteria.
  1. Old Tax Type - SG3 & New Tax Type - SG0_O3 
6. When you change products with 28% GST to 18% GST, select them according to the following criteria.
  1. Old Tax Type - SG4 & New Tax Type - SG3_O4 
Note: Please change same as for Purchase.

Step 4: How to Change HSN Code in Product

  1. Go to the GST 2.0 Rationalization Changes Form.
  2. Click on the "Change HSN Code in Product" - "H" button.

  1. In this form, use the appropriate filter options to generate the product list for updating the HSN code.
  2. Select Category, Group Name, HSN Code, and Tax Code as needed to filter the data. You can use any combination of these filters to generate the desired product list.
  3. Based on your selected filters, the product list will appear in the table below.
  4. Select the products you want to update.
  5. From the dropdown, choose the New HSN code.
  6. Click Save to apply the changes.
